Actions (lawsuits) commenced in the Small Claims Court are procedurally governed by the Rules of the Small Claims Court.

There is a two-year statutory limitation period in most cases if you are considering initiating a Small Claims Court lawsuit with respect to, for example, money that is owed to you under an agreement or for damages incurred. The Limitations Act applies in these circumstances.

The Consumer Protection Act also applies to certain matters.
