Fail to Report an Accident

Involved in an accident? You have a duty to report if involved.

This duty includes accidents that involve personal injury and damage to property exceeding the amount of $2000.

Section 199 of the Ontario Highway Traffic Act outlines the duty to report an accident.

Penalties

Failing to report an accident can result in serious consequences upon conviction. The penalties can consist of three demerit points and a fine of between $60 and $1000.
